The 78th Precinct Youth Council’s Basketball Academy is hosting its annual series of summer basketball clinics. These co-ed week-long clinics are open to 9-12 year old players (age on 8/31/18) and will be directed by professional coaches, professional athletes who have competed across the globe, and collegiate athletes. We will also host weekly clinics for player’s 7-8 year old in July and August as well as a one-week clinic for 13-15 year olds in July.
Participants will be placed in a supportive, but competitive, atmosphere. Players will be taught basketball fundamentals, and strategies through a variety of basic and advanced drills, half-court play, and refereed scrimmages. Players will also compete in a series of different competitions that reinforce skills learned throughout the clinic.
The 78PYC Basketball Academy Weekly Clinics are a great place for children to improve their fundamental skills and enhance their love for the game of basketball. It is also a fun and friendly environment for children to start and foster quality friendships.
There will be seven weekly clinics that will run Monday through Friday. Each day involves different learning experiences, beginning 9:00am and ending at 3:00pm. Parents requiring ‘early drop-off’ at 8:00am and/or ‘late pick-up’ at 4:00pm for their children may do so for an additional fee. Early drop-off and/or late pickup are an additional $25 per week per dropoff or pickup, paid at the beginning of the week at the clinic.
At this time all seven sessions are open for registration, starting the week of July 2 through the week of August 17. The fee for the first week is $280 due to the 4th of July holiday on Wednesday. The fee for the remaining six weeks is $350. Multi-week discounts are available, $25 after the first registered week.
Clinics for 7-8 year olds will take place July 9-13 and August 6-10. Our one-week clinic for 13-15 year olds will take place July 23-27.
The clinics will be held in a local Park Slope school gymnasium. Registrants will receive detailed information the week prior to the clinic start date.
Players should bring a bagged lunch and snack. Water will be available to the athletes to keep them cool, hydrated and performing at their best.
Openings are limited and the program fills up quickly, so register now to ensure a spot.
