HOW TO REGISTER AS A COACH & TAKE A BACKGROUND CHECK

Coaches’ Registration On-Line Procedure

Thanks for volunteering to coach. Our program is dedicated to making the experience safe, fun, and meaningful for the kids. We do this in two ways: Provide our coaches with tools to make them more effective coaches and make sure no coach is a threat to the safety and well-being of the kids.

1. POSITIVE COACHING: As a member of the Positive Coaching Alliance we provide very specific information on how to handle the many inter-personal situations that arise with the players, parents, umpires, and fans during a season. We also provide many tools for each of the skills and tactics of the game. Completion of a Positive Coaching Alliance online course is mandatory for all new coaches and any coach who has never taken the seminar. All other coaches are welcome to attend. For information on how to register for and take the online course, send us a message using the Contact Us page and address a message to General Inquiry.

2. BACKGROUND CHECK: To insure the safety of the kids, our materials provide information on how to handle injuries. We also require background checks of all coaches. The unfortunate events at Penn State were a national wake up call, causing all major organizations nationally and locally (such as AYSO) to take this step. All coaches are therefore required to register with us as a coach (this is separate from the registration of your child) and to complete the background check information. Without clearance no one will be allowed to coach. All coaches must register as a coach with us for each season/sport they coach (baseball, basketball, flag football) but they need only have a background check every two years. So if you are a registered coach for the current basketball season and you had a background check, you can skip the background check portion but still must register as a baseball coach. Group emails are generated from the coaches lists that result from your registration.

The procedure is simple:

Go to your registration account in our system (if you don’t have one, please create one):

Once logged on please click on the Coach Registration option and then follow the instructions.

During the process you will be provided with instructions on how to complete your background check. The entire process, coach registration and background check, takes no more than ten minutes.  Have a copy of your driver’s license or passport ready to upload in a computer file format as one is required for verification purposes.

There is no charge for the Positive Coaching seminar and the background checks if done as directed.

It is important when entering your name, that you use your full legal name as written on your birth certificate or driver’s license.
